Obituary of Hugh Doyle Martin

Martin, Hugh Doyle, 78, of Land O’ Lakes passed away Sunday, May 6, 2007 at his home. He was born in Tampa and has been a resident of Land O’ Lakes for the past 34 years. He was baptized at Riverside Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Hillsborough High School in 1946 and the University of Florida in 1951. He served in the US Marine Corps and the US Army during the Cold War. He was the owner of the Strawberry Patch Liquor Store and Lounge in Plant City for 25 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, R.D. Martin, Sr. and Ossie Odell; brothers, R.D. Martin, Jr.and Jimmy Martin; sister, Billie Dean Cook; son Hugh D. Martin “Bubba”, Jr. and stepmother Jessie Lee. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Gertrude, “Trudy”; 3 daughters: Elizabeth Wilson (Mike); Anna Kunster (Gilbert); Rosalie Schreiber (David); brothers; Carl Martin (Pattie), Jack Martin (Lola); sister; Dottie Sue Martin; brother –in-law, James Cook; grandchildren, Tracy Jarboe (Chad), Martin Burke (Heather), Jeffrey & Amber Kunster, Erika, Will, Kendra & Kurt Schreiber & Shannon Grippando ; great-grandchildren, Steven & Sydney Burke and several nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Lutz. Final resting place will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
